Ok you have been trying to download your favourite torrent and you keep getting the following errors:

Error: Disk Read Error - D:\Big.huge.avi (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process), open fails

File close fails: [filename] (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process), open fails, flush fails

Very frustrating!!! The problem is caused by an application(s) running in the background of Windows, usually busy organising files or protecting files (like your mother, auntie, sister or wife would do) now as much as they are helpful they can get in the way and don’t you wish you switch them off as easy I will show you how to switch off the culprits in Windows.

Well here is how to fix the issue:

The Culprits: It’s either an Anti-Virus Software, google desktop, Roxio or Windows indexing or all of them.

I found the quickest way to fix this problem which has worked for me time and time again is to

Click on ‘Start’ Menu > Then ‘RUN’ > Type ‘MMC’ (Vista users type ‘MMC’ in the Start search box’) then press ‘OK’

Windows ‘CONSOLE’ will appear, Press ‘Ctrl + M’ then look for the ‘SERVICES’ Snap in and add this to the ‘CONSOLE’

Find any Anti-Virus Software and Disable, Find Google Desktop and Disable, find Roxio services and disable.
